Simplify: control your favourite music players App Reviews

If you are using lot of different apps and web services for listening music, Simplify brings all of those aps controller in one place: your menu bar. You could easily see whats playing on your menu bar or on your desktop. I would really like to see the lyrics of the songs in future updates.

After I updated to osx yosemite the app has been hogging up cpu. I had to uninstall it.

I want my money back! This app is horrible! Doesn’t work with SoundCloud and has a lot of bugs. Don’t Buy!!!!!!

Love it when it works, but half of the time it eats up 90%+ of my CPU. Expect something better for a paid app.

Exactly the product I was searching for!

This is a pretty cool app to use. I like that I can look at my menubar and see what is going on and easily adjust volume or change the song. I also use it with the mobile app and it is really cool. They are syncronized very well and everything that happens on my iPod Touch happens in real time on my Mac. I am noticing that if I am using iTunes and want to go to Spotify, it doesn’t like to switch and iTunes seems to be overiding it, as it doesn’t like to switch back to Spotify. I have to stop iTunes and then it immediately goes back to Spotify and I get a notification in the top right corner that tells me what has happened on the Mac. It is nice though. It is a quick, clean, and easy way to control your music.

The latest version of Spotify breaks Simplify. Too bad, becuase Simplify worked really well. According to Simplifys website, the problem has something to do with Applescript. They encourage users to complain on Spotifys community forum. Which I did. It would be awesome if something could be done to fix Simplify for Spotify!

This app worked great until March 5th Spotify “upgrade”. It now crashes when I launch it and can no longer control spotify volume. Would give 5 stars if Spotify fixes their bugs.

Simplify was one of the apps that was always in use. I love the ability to control my music and see the cover art of whatever is playing regardless of what else is happening on my desktop. But since I update Spotify, the app won’t even open! I guess I’ll have to go with another music controller until Simplify decides to update.

This is a great app. The fact that Spotify no longer works with Simplify has nothing to do with Simplify but rather with Spotify’s somewhat dubius decision to stop supporting all 3rd party apps. This is 100% a Spotify issue and is out of Simplify’s control. Don’t blame Simplify, it is still a great app, instead complain to Spotify.

The last Spotify update has now made Simplify crash instantly when opened. Please fix!

Been broken for over a week with latest spotify update.

Hi, This version of simplify is not working with Spotify. Won’t show controls. I am running spotify version 1.0.2.6.g9977a14b and simplify 3.2 on Mac OS X 10.10.2. Please fix. Thank you.

This application is great, but won’t sync up with the actual place in the song that I’m listening to. It just starts at 0:01 when I open it, even in the middle of a song. Please fix!

Does not work at all with current versions of spotify. I don’t want to have to run old software for an app to work.

This app used to work amazingly, now the album art wont show up in any of the themes. Needs urgent fix. What use is a music controller that wont show artwork.

I see several reviews saying that it isnt working with Spotify. Its working fine here, Im using it right now. Theres a nice, free preference pane that will let you use the Mac’s keyboards media keys with the app. Ive used this app for a long time and it has continually been developed and improved. Id recommend it for anyone who wants a menu-bar-based controller and display of the current track. (Reminder: App developers cant respond to reviews, so if you have a problem with an any -- any app -- contact the developers, dont abuse the review system!)

Current version is broken, this seemed to happen around a few weeks ago.

I give the developer credit for trying to keep up with Spotify, but it’s not worth my time — or yours I bet — to go through the regular frustration of watching this promising app not work as represented. It’s fine for iTunes, but look elsewhere if you use Spotify.

I have used Simplify for many years. And, I previously wrote a review, noting that it was no longer showing album art when used with Spotify. The fix WAS to re-install an older version of Spotify - which I have done, over and over, for months now, just to be able to use Simplify. Had to do this, because Spotify automatically upgrades on each reboot of my Mac. With this new update of Simplify, album artwork is successfully showing, even when used with the newest release of Spotify. Thank you!!
